Amanda Buckner is an American female mixed martial artist. Her last fight was a decision loss against Takayo Hashi at FFF 4 - Call of the Wild on April 3, 2008.

Buckner was a contestant on the MMA reality show BodogFight, but lost in her first bout against Tara LaRosa.

She runs the Academy of Mixed Martial Arts in Portland, Maine with her husband, MMA fighter Jay Jack.

Early life

Buckner was the point guard on the University of Maine-Farmington's basketball team for four years.[1]

MMA career

Buckner faced Yuuki Kondo at Smackgirl: Yuuki Kondo Retirement Celebration on November 4, 2004. She won the fight by kneebar submission in the second roud.[2]

She faced Alisa Cantwell at Ring of Fire 15 on February 12, 2005.[3]

She faced Shayna Baszler at MFC: USA vs. Russia 3 on June 3, 2006. She won the fight by TKO in the third round.[4]

Buckner faced Hitomi Akano at Bodog Fight - Clash of the Nations on April 14, 2007. She won the fight by unanimous decision.[5]

She was forced to give up the Smackgirl Open-Weight Championship after an injury prevented her from defending the title.[6]

Buckner faced Takayo Hashi at FFF 4 - Call of the Wild on April 3, 2008. She lost the fight by unanimous decision.[7]

Buckner was schedule to make her long-awaited return to mixed martial arts action after a three year layoff against Amanda Nunes for the Global Fight League in February 2011 but she was forced off the card due to a knee injury.[8]

Personal life

Amanda is married to fellow MMA fighter Jay Jack.[9]
